3 cans (12 oz. each) beer
1 container (7 oz.) H-E-B Ready, Fresh, Go!® Diced Sweet Onions
1/2 c. (1 stick) H-E-B Salted Butter
2 pkgs. (5 brats ea.) H-E-B Fresh Brautwursts
10 H-E-B Bakery Hot Dog Buns
1 bottle (8 oz.) H-E-B Ground Brown Mustard
1 jar (32 oz.) H-E-B Harvest Moon™ Sauerkraut, rinsed
Combine beer, onion, and butter in a large saucepan and heat on medium
low for 30 minutes. Keep on low heat (do not let it boil).
Heat gas on charcoal grill to 375°F. (You should be able to hold y
our hand palm down, 2 inches over the grate, for 4 or 5 seconds.) Gril
l fresh brats—20 to 25 minutes, turning often. Use tongs so as t
o avoid piercing the brats—grease flare-ups will occur when brat
s are pierced and result in burned brats.
Transfer brats to beer sauce and simmer for 15 minutes. Hold brats in
warm beer sauce until ready to serve. Place each brat on a bun with br
own mustard and sauerkraut and serve.
