1 1/2 lb. lean ground beef (or beef and pork combination)
2 Tbsp. H-E-B Pure Olive Oil
• salt and pepper, to taste
1 medium onion, chopped
1 green bell pepper, chopped
2 tsp. minced garlic in oil
1 tsp. each: oregano, ground cumin, sea salt and coarse black pepper
1/4 tsp. allspice
1 can (28 oz.) crushed tomatoes
1 jar (4 oz.) diced pimentos
1/2 c. each: golden raisins and slivered almonds
Heat oil in a large, deep skillet over Medium-High heat, add beef and
cook 5 to 7 minutes or until browned. Stir frequently and crumble int
o small pieces with edge of cooking spoon.
Add onion, bell pepper and garlic; sauté 5 more minutes or unti
l onion is cooked. Sprinkle seasonings over beef mixture; stir and coo
k 5 more minutes.
Add tomatoes, pimentos and raisins. Bring to a boil; reduce heat to Lo
w, cover and simmer 20 minutes. Toast almonds in a skillet over Medium
heat. Stir in right before serving.
