Pepper BBQ Bacon and Blue Cheese Burgers

4 H-E-B Custom Meat Market Blue Cheese Seasoned Burgers, 8 oz. each

4 H-E-B Bake Shop Wheat Hamburger Buns

½ c. H-E-B Specialty Series South Texas Barbecue Sauce

8 pieces H-E-B Fully Cooked® Bacon

4 leaves romaine lettuce

8 slices tomato


Heat charcoal for 40 minutes, until covered with a layer of gray ash.
Test heat by holding palm just above grate. If heat causes you to pull
away in 5 seconds, the temperature is ideal (325°F surface). Move hea
ted charcoal to cover half of grate. If using a gas grill, heat one si
de of grill on high for 10 minutes with lid closed, then reduce heat t
o medium low.
Grill 1-inch-thick burgers 5 minutes per side directly over medium-low
heat with lid open.
Move burgers to cool half of grill. Cook 5 to 7 minutes per side with
lid closed. Watch for fl are-ups. Remove when burgers reach 160°F inte
rnal temperature throughout. Let burgers rest 2 minutes before placing
on bun.
Warm buns (split side down) and fully cooked bacon on warm side of gri
ll for 2 minutes with lid closed. Break bacon strips in half.
Spread 1 tablespoon barbecue sauce on each half of bun. Top buns with
4 pieces bacon, then burger, tomato, and lettuce. Cut burgers in half
if desired and serve immediately.
