2 cups Splenda Sugar Substitute
1 Bolner's Fiesta Cinnamon Stick
1 Bolner's Fiesta Whole Clove
1/4 teaspoon Bolner's Fiesta Whole Anise Seeds
16 slices low calorie wheat bread, toasted and cut into cubes
1/2 cup raisins
3 apples, peeled, cored and thin sliced
1/2 cup chopped peanuts
1/4 cup sliced almonds
1 package (8 oz.) H-E-B Shredded Monterey Jack or Cheddar Cheese
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 9x13-inch baking dish with nonstick
cooking spray and set aside.
Combine 4 cups water, Splenda, cinnamon stick, clove and anise seeds i
n a 2 –quart pot. Bring mixture to a boil over high heat and cook abou
t 2 minutes. Strain syrup to remove spices and set syrup aside.
Layer 1/3 bread cubes, 3 Tablespoons raisins, 1/3 apple slices, 3 Tabl
espoons peanuts, 1 Tablespoon almonds and 3/4 cup cheese in prepared b
aking dish. Repeat two more layers of ingredients. Pour syrup, 1 cup a
t a time, over layered ingredients so that all bread is moistened. Bak
e on center oven rack for 30 minutes. Serve warm.
