Sandwich Social

to make ahead of time, eat and clean up. Pack your picnic with:
- Sandwiches made with distinctive breadslike baguettes or thick-sliced
white, pumpernickel or wheat (H-E-B Artisan breads)and a variety
of fillings. Make a few each of
3 to 4 different kinds. Then cut the sandwiches in half so guests can
sample a little of each. (Mix it up a little, like chicken
salad on cracked wheat; cream cheese and jam on white; ham and Swiss
on rye; ripe tomato, avocado slices, cream cheese and alfalfa sprouts
on parmesan bread; etc.)
- Fresh fruit and cheeses that are easily eaten by hand, like grapes,
sliced apples and cubes of cheddar.
- Pretty paper plates, cups and napkins for a casual atmosphere that's
pleasing to the eye.
