HatsGoblin' Delights Chocolate Witch Hair Bewitching Cocoa Bites Witches Pail Treats Spooky Crisps H-E-B Bakery Treats H-E-B Candy Selection Costume Parade Here's a great, instant-gratification souvenir for kids to take home as one of their party favors. You'll need:
2. Once you have the pictures, trim them and mount each picture with tape onto a piece of orange construction paper that is cut to show 1.5 inches around the photo. 3. Write the words "Happy Halloween 2003" on the construction paper above the photo with a black Sharpie pen. (We suggest you create the orange frames ahead of time to speed up the process.) 4. Or, better yet, get the kids involved. Make it a craft project during the party, allowing the children to get creative decorating their orange picture frames with colored pencils, glitter, etc. ![]() Have the kids create their own masks for a masquerade. You'll need:
1. Tape the paint stirrer to the back of the paper plate. 2. Hold in front of child's face to mark the eyes. 3. Cut out eye holes. 4. Trim plate in shape desired to create cheeks, ears, hair, etc. 5. You can also color the plate with crayons or colored pencils. 6. Then decorate the masks by attaching candy with royal icing. For more craft ideas using candy, visit Candy USA. And be sure to stock up on holiday sweets at your local H-E-B. Ghoulish Games Gather up the kids for some Halloween fun. Bobbing for applesThis time-honored favorite is easy to set up and loads of fun for everyone. Just be prepared for lots of giggles and laughs. For setup, put ten to twenty small- to medium-sized apples from your H-E-B Produce department into a low, wide tub that's filled two-thirds of the way up with fresh water. Each person takes timed turns trying to grab an apple between his or her teeth. Just remember the rule: once your mouth touches an apple, that's the apple you have to keep bobbing for. No switching. Here's an alternative to bobbing for apples, a game from Ireland called snap-apple. First, make sure you get apples with stems on them. Then set up two stepladders and run a broom handle from one to the other across the top steps. Finally, tie strings from the broom handle and tie apples to the strings at their stems. Loads of fun, without the mess! Scary storiesNothing gets kids into the Halloween mood more than a chilling tale or two. Make it doubly fun with a few touchy-feely props:
Pin the nose on the pumpkinGive regular party games a Halloween twist. In this one, all you need is a pumpkin made from construction paper, a triangular paper nose and adhesive tape (you can also use a push pin). Put tape on back of nose so that the tape is looped with the sticky side up (with the other side of the loop sticking to the paper.) Then, put a blindfold on the child who is to stick the nose on the pumpkin, spin him or her five times and let the fun begin. |
