Gourmet Dinner Club Rules
In order to have a dine-in gourmet group that is fun and educational, basic organizational rules need to be set up. These rules will help make the meals more enjoyable for all members.

1. Participants: Include couples, singles or paired friends who are interested in enjoying fun gourmet dining.

2. Organization:
--Participants will be divided into groups of 4 to 5 pairs for each planned meal.
--Groups will be rotated throughout the year so that everyone gets to meet different people in a smaller dinner setting.
--Each member pair will host at least one dinner or group dessert.
--The member pair will be allowed to select which theme meal date they wish to host.
--The hosting pair will have a substitute host in case of an unforeseen conflict or emergency.
--The theme meal hosts can invite a guest pair.
--The menu for the gourmet meals will be divided among the grouped pairs as follows:
  • Host Pair: Beverages
  • Pair #2: Entrée
  • Pair #3: Starch & Vegetable
  • Pair #4: Salad & Bread
  • Pair #5: Dessert
3. Chair Pair Responsibilities: This couple will plan the theme meal and prepare the recipe notebook to be used by the gourmet dinner club members. They will be responsible for sending out the theme-meal invitations that identify who the host pair, member pairs and dessert host will be. The chair pair, like other member pairs, will take turns hosting themed meals.

4. Host Pair Responsibility: The assigned host pair is responsible for its group of member pairs and ensures that everyone has received an invitation and understands which recipes they are responsible for. The host pair is also responsible for gathering cost receipts and dividing the costs per pairs.

5. Group Pair Responsibility: The participating group pair must obtain a substitute pair in case they are unable to attend. Recipes involved must be supplied to the substitute pair.

6. Likes and Dislikes: A survey of likes, dislikes and theme meal preferences will be gathered from members.

7. Recipes: Recipes used will include the regular and reduced-fat and calorie versions. They will stress easy preparation techniques and give suggestions for preparation ahead of time. The recipes will also include a nutritional breakdown of calories, fat, protein, carbohydrate, sodium and cholesterol.

8. Gourmet Training Sessions: Special gourmet skills training sessions will be held 1 to 2 weeks before a theme meal if necessary.

9. Cost: An initial cost of $10 will be assigned to each pair to pay for the cost of reproducing the Gourmet Dinner Club Recipe Book, theme meal invitations and postage.

Theme Meal Cost Per Couple:
Each host pair will be responsible for collecting the group members' expenses for their recipe. A cost sheet will be supplied for each meal in the recipe book. The host pair will add the total expenses and divide this amount by the number of group pairs. Before dessert is served, this average cost per pair will be assessed for each pair. Guest pairs will also abide by the same rules.
