H-E-B Introduces My H-E-B Rx Rewards Platinum to Offer Greater Pharmacy Benefits to Texans

H-E-B Becomes First U.S. Retailer to Offer a Solution on Discount Brand Drugs and Select Pet Medications

SAN ANTONIO, TX – Nov. 19, 2007 – Inspired by the success of its no-cost pharmacy program My
H-E-B Rx Rewards, H-E-B is stepping up its commitment to the health and well-being of its customers by offering them an opportunity to obtain greater in-store pharmacy benefits with the new My H-E-B Rx Rewards Platinum. With the new program, H-E-B becomes the first retailer in the U.S. to offer its customers discounts on brand as well as generic drugs plus discounts on select pet medications.  

For a one-time $5 application fee, customers can enroll in My H-E-B Rx Rewards Platinum and gain access to free quarterly health screenings for glucose, blood pressure and non-fasting cholesterol and to 500 brand medications for $50 or less. Enrolled customers can also obtain a 90-day supply of generic medications for only $9.99 as well as receive discounts on select pet medications that can be purchased at H-E-B with a prescription from a veterinarian.

Participants in both My H-E-B Rx Rewards Platinum and the no-cost My H-E-B Rx Rewards will receive discounts on ALL brand and generic medications, gain access to 500 generic drugs for $5 that address today’s most prevalent diseases including diabetes and heart disease and enjoy priority scheduling for immunizations. Each participating customer also receives a free diabetic starter kit after their first diabetic prescription fill.

More than 25 percent of Texans do not have insurance coverage. We designed these programs to offer tremendous savings opportunities for those without coverage and put families in charge of managing their healthcare.”

Customers can enroll in My H-E-B Rx Rewards Platinum by visiting their nearest H-E-B Pharmacy. There is no enrollment deadline. Customers needing more information can visit with H-E-B’s highly knowledgeable pharmacy staff or can call 1-866-286-8096. H-E-B Pharmacies will also be hosting in-store enrollment events called Rx Check-ups. Customers should check with their individual pharmacy for more information on the date and time of these events.

Regarding pet medications, veterinary-only medications used in the treatment of fleas, ticks, heartworms or other medical conditions are not available at H-E-B.
