The H-E-B Centennial Celebrate Texas Tour will officially
hit the road on January 2, 2005. The first stop will be a tailgate party
for football fans prior to the Houston Texans v. Cleveland Browns game. Throughout
the year, the specialty vehicles associated with the tour will literally
cross the highways and byways of Texas to visit more than 100 community events,
festivals and store openings. From Texas Independence Day at the Capitol
to Borderfest in Hidalgo, the idea is to thank our customers and supporters
across the state by literally taking the party to the people.
The main attraction on the tour will be the World’s Largest Ultimate Smoker
and Grill – a 55-foot vehicle that includes a 48” wood fired smoker
and a 120”grill. The grill can prepare up to 1,000 hot dogs and 500 hamburgers
at once or 200 steaks simultaneously. Traveling along with the grill will be
the H-E-B Own Brand Cola Can and the Ice Cream Trailer, both featuring brand
new graphics in honor of the 100th Anniversary.
At each stop along the way, H-E-B Partner volunteers will greet guests and help
distribute samples of both Own Brand products and items from the Centennial Platinum
Sponsors – Coca Cola, ConAgra, Daymon Worldwide, Kraft and Procter and
Gamble. They will also hand out special commemorative merchandise such as stickers,
magnets, pencils, temporary tattoos, water bottles and koozies. In addition,
visitors will be able to participate in a variety of contests and children’s
activities.
